Your Voice

Y’all everyday I wake up with the intent to change lives. Everyday my life is the one changed.

A few days ago my boss recorded a snap of a lesson. My kids were discussing the area of retelling. So I watched it and realized there is a ton that I need to fix within myself(none of which is easy). Then, today I let my kids watch the same clip. They had to identify one area they saw that needed to improve. My shy student stood up very slowly and began to state, “I need to use my voice and stand”. I acknowledge his honesty. Not thinking anything I kept teaching. Today during our reading lesson, the first question was asked and this same student bolted up. He spoke with confidence and such power. I acknowledged the fact he stood up and shared. He responded, “It’s the first time I used my voice. I don’t like to use voice. You said we must be confident. You said we must use our voice. That’s what I needed to work on. I need to use the voice. I must be confident using my voice.” My heart began to pound. My 6 year old student identified his weakness and it immediately became a strength.

If only we as adults had that same power. If instead of feeling condemned, ridiculed, or hated. When we see a weakness or when people call us out on our weaknesses, we should rise up to experience the real freedom. Weaknesses should never hold ya down. We shouldn’t ever give them that power.

We have to stand tall with confidence and use our voice. Because our voice could impact others to use theirs. ❤️ #fortheloveoffirstgrade #ilovemyjob
