Be a Listener...
"Can you please just be a listener?" // People don't often understand the hats you wear as a teacher. In simply 8 hours today I was a cheerleader, an event planner, a friend, counselor, a nurse, comedian, detective, messenger, advocate, mediator, grader, interpreter, coach, janitor, a librarian, and I'm sure 50 more things. But today I was convicted. "Can you please just be a listener" shout came out of a 7 year old boy with tears in his eyes. Today I was a listener. I listened to his fears, what makes him angry, and listened to why he feels inadequate. Conviction was real today as I lost sight in all my "hats" and neglected to realize that one of the important "hats" is to be a listener. To listen to the hearts of the kids God gave me. So today, I stopped, he drew, and I listened. ❤
