HOPE. Have....HOPE.

To the teacher with the student who asks for love in the most unloving way. To the teacher with the student who slams doors in your face, throws tantrums on your ground, tells you he hates you, and is defiant. I want to encourage you. I too am that teacher. I am exhausted, concerned, in tears, some days impatient, but today I am hopeful. That student, who makes a long day even longer, gave me hope today. He spent all of his eagle bucks to have lunch with me, the one he says he hates, he shouts at, and slams doors on. Me. The entire lunch, he talked and I simply listened. Then he hugged me tight. Me. The one who after all that, still believes in him. Believes in what he can be and what he will be. He choose to eat lunch with me. To be listened too. So today I am hopeful. I am hopeful that the long days will mean his life will change. I am hopeful the doors he slams in my face will be future doors he opens for others or that the tantrums he throws in my class will be one less tantrum for a future teacher. Because even in the midst of slammed doors, tantrums, and hateful words God is working. So to the teacher who wants to give up because of that kid....have hope. The kid who needs love the most asks for it in the most unloving way. Stand tall. Because, even when you can't see it, God is working and that kid is listening.
